Privacy Policy

Chamfer Software and Consulting, LLC ("us", "we", "our", or "the Company") develops, maintains, and distributes the Mapulo software application (the "App"). This document applies to all information collected, stored and transmitted when using the App on the iPhone or any other device or platform (the "Device").

Information Collected

The App allows the user to record and store their current location, the current date, images from the Device’s camera or the user’s photo library. Access to the user’s location is authorized solely at the discretion of the user. Access to the camera and photo library are also authorized solely at the discretion of the user. The user can also enter text and numerical data to be associated with the recorded location data at their discretion. The App collects no other information about the user.

Purpose and Usage of Information Collected

The collection and association of this information is the primary function of The App. At root, the App is a database of the information described above organized under topics defined by the user. The user is at liberty to save, export, share or delete the information at their discretion. The Company has no access to the user's information stored in the App nor uses it in any way whatsoever.

Storage and Transmission of Information

The information collected by the user is stored exclusively on the Device. The information is stored in an unencrypted state. Except as discussed in the Sharing of Information section below, the information collected at no time is transferred by the App itself to any external location. The information may be transferred to an external location as part of an iCloud backup service or by some other third party product acting on the Device storage as a whole.

Sharing of information

The App allows the user to share the information collected with the App with others at the sole discretion of the user. At no time, does the App share the user's information with the Company nor with any other third party. The App does not transfer information without the user initiating the transfer. Formats for sharing the information are native .mapLog format (JSON), comma-separated text format, plain text format, and portable document format (PDF). The user should be aware that no encryption is applied by the App when exporting the information via these formats. Should the user desire to share the information in an encrypted state, they should choose a transmission platform that will encrypt transmitted files.

In-App Purchases

The App offers the user the option to donate to the Company for continued maintenence and development of the App. This transaction is handled via Apple Inc.'s in-App purchase system. This system safely and securely transmits details of the transaction (time of transaction, amount etc.) to Apple to be applied to the user's Apple ID method of payment. The details of a transaction are maintained by Apple, and when the App is launched, the App requests this information from Apple to properly configure the in-App purchase section. The App does not maintain a permanent record of any transaction.

Bug Reports and Crash Diagnositics

If the user submits an emailed bug report via the App's feedback function, the App will include an attached log file. This file is only a record of the operation of the the App and any errors that may have occured. It contains none of the user's information. The user has the discretion to delete this attached file prior to sending the bug report. In the event that the App fails completely (i.e. crashes), the Company may request the user allow for diagnostic information about the crash be sent to the Company.

iCloud

Except as noted above as part of an iCloud backup, the current version of the App (1.0) does not store any user information on iCloud.
